Wrong Portrayal Of Women In Media

Women in India are seen with a due respect and portrayed as goddess. But it seem like media has become a bit more modernized that it has no respect for women left. The picture of women framed by media is totally in negative shade and portrayed as the goddess of sexuality. In one of the advertisement of men underwear by Amul Macho a girl in a very seductive style pronounces the word "ye to bada toing hai". Similarly, women pictured in the advertisement of men deodorant in a very sexy bikini and looking for boys in a seductive way. There are a long list of these kind of advertisement shown on television.

Media is known  to represent and reinforce the mainstream ideology into its audience and are the most effective communication system. And we all know that it affects the mentality of people the most as it is the most  persuasive medium, but still media shows such kind of programs and advertisement which affects badly to the young generation. The way media shows the women the youth take it in the same way and the reason is that youth today get distracted from their goals and hence increases pornography. This is also a reason behind increase in rape cases.
The media needs to follow the Social responsibility theory and should stop advertising sex on television. These kind of advertisement should be banned by the government and there should be cross-check of the content of programs broadcasted on television by the government itself. The media itself promote sex and then blame girls for being raped. This is totally wrong and the way media is portraying women is not actually the same. There are women like sati sawitri, parvati, kalpana chawla, but do they promote them no, because that do not sensationalise the things and do not help them increase their TRP. Media is a good thing but only if not misused.
